(Albuquerque, NM – June 2, 2011) – For the second summer the theatre is coming to you on board the New Mexico Rail Runner Express! Every Saturday in June, July and August the University of New Mexico Department of Theatre Education and Outreach will be performing Shakespeare scenes on board the train. Each month, there will be a new scene.

“This was very well received by passengers last summer, so I think Rail Runner customers will be happy to see it return this summer”, says Dewey Cave, Executive Director, Mid-Region Council of Governments.

Performances will take place only on northbound train #506 and southbound train #509 between the Downtown Albuquerque Rail Runner station and the Santa Fe Depot station. Each month will feature new Shakespeare scenes. Saturdays in June will feature romance scenes; while mid-July through August will showcase comedic scenes.

"We’re thrilled to be bringing this project to the Rail Runner again this summer. Doing Shakespeare in this setting is a bit quirky, a bit challenging, and lots of fun”, says Lauren Albonico, Director of Shakespeare on the Rail.
