ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Visit Albuquerque congratulates three staff members who were recently promoted.
Joni Thompson, Chief Operating Officer
Joni Thompson has been promoted from VP of Finance and Administration to Chief Operating Officer (COO). She will continue in her current role and will now be involved in broader strategic initiatives including leadership/coordination of activities related to the Destination Master Plan. Joni has been with Visit Albuquerque for eight years and brings a strong financial and operational background as well as an understanding of marketing and sales to her new position.

Larry Atchison, Senior Director of Sales
Larry Atchison was recently promoted from Director of Sales to Senior Director of Sales. In addition to his current sales role recruiting government, ethnic, veteran, trade, religious, military meetings and reunions to meet to Albuquerque, he will act as a second point of contact for Visit Albuquerque’s Convention Sales & Services team. Larry has helped Visit Albuquerque bring convention business to Albuquerque for 14 years.

Megan Mayo has been promoted from Public Relations Specialist to Communications Manager. Megan will continue to focus on travel media relations and management of Visit Albuquerque’s public relations efforts, and will now be responsible for additional local media relations duties. Prior to Visit Albuquerque, Megan worked in public relations and marketing at Jane Butel’s Cooking School and the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University. She has been with Visit Albuquerque for two years.
