The Spanish language is shared by more than 500 million people and that number is growing. Instituto Cervantes wants to celebrate this fact with the presentation of a new book “España: Exploring the Flavors of Spain” written by La Boca Chef Owner James Campbell Caruso, on June 23 at 2:30pm.

Published by Gibbs Smith Publishing, this book covers a gamut of traditional Spanish dishes as well as some more modern interpretations, exemplifying the exuberance of modern Spanish cuisine. The book includes tapas, soups, entrees, and desserts, as well as a primer on essential Spanish ingredients. Beautifully illustrated by local photographer Doug Merriam, the book is a treat for the eyes as well as the mouth.

Grilled eggplant with melted manchego, capers and saffron honey. Sea scallops with orange-parsnip puree and hazelnut butter. Morcilla with mushrooms, spring peas, and mint oil. These are just a few of the recipes to be found in España: Exploring the Flavors of Spain, the newest cookbook by La Boca Chef/Owner James Campbell Caruso.

If you would like to learn more about Spanish food, this is a great opportunity to discover the delicious and heavenly cuisine of Spain.
