New Mexico’s burgeoning craft brewing industry took home a slew of honors last weekend.

Six New Mexico breweries went up against the best of the best in the country at the Great American Beer Festival awards in Denver and came away with eight medals.

Breweries are recognized in gold, silver and bronze medal categories for excellence in 75 beer-style categories. Breweries enter their beers to be judged by the festival’s professional judge panel. Festival attendees can also sip the beer entered in the competition during tasting sessions.

The following breweries in New Mexico took home medals for 2013:

Gold:

Il Vicino Brewing Co., Panama Joe’s Coffee Stout, Coffee Beer (Albuquerque)
Second Street Brewery, Rod’s Steam Bitter, American-Style Amber Lager (Santa Fe)

Silver:

Marble Brewery, Pilsner, German-Style Pilsener (Albuquerque)
Sierra Blanca Brewing Co., Sierra Blanca Nut Brown Ale, English-Style Brown Ale (Moriarty)
Blue Corn Brewery, End Of The Trail Brown Ale, American-Style Brown Ale and Gold Medal Stout, Oatmeal Stout (Santa Fe)

Bronze:

Marble Brewery, Thunder from Dortmunder, Dortmunder or German-Style OktoberfestBronze (Albuquerque)
