ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May, 2011) –   A collaboration of arts, cultural and marketing organizations have once again come together to create a uniquely Albuquerque experience called “Savor Albuquerque: Arts, Culture, Cuisine.”   The 10-day festival will be celebrated June 3-12, 2011 at various locations throughout the city.

“Savor Albuquerque” was designed to showcase the breadth of Albuquerque’s incredible artistic and cultural resources.  The schedule includes presentations in music, theater, dance, comedy, literature, humanities, film, multimedia, visual and culinary arts.

Now in its second year, “Savor Albuquerque” adds a culinary component to the mix. “Great food is such an integral part of a vibrant, culturally diverse community,” said Christopher Goblet, Deputy Director of the Downtown Action Team.  “We have so many culinary options here in Albuquerque, it only made sense to showcase food as an essential component of this festival.”

Food highlights include a Route 66 Food Cart Roundup featuring everything from hot espresso shots to bubbling hot wood fired pizzas; a foodie event called RoofTapas that brings together exceptional chefs, creative cocktails and exquisite sunsets from distinctive rooftop settings; and an Ale Trail trolley tour for the craft beer connoisseur.  Festival highlights also include Festival Flamenco Internacional de Alburquerque, the “Worlds Outside This One” and “Across the Great Divide” exhibitions at 516 ARTS, “The Seven” at the Cell Theatre and the 5th Annual Duke City Improv Festival.

“Savor Albuquerque provides a great opportunity for the city to showcase what makes us an authentic destination,” said Dale Lockett, President and CEO of the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “We invite both residents and visitors alike to experience all that the 10-day festival has to offer.”

While the festival is centered on the very best of the city’s arts, cultural and culinary assets, its collaborative efforts also provide an avenue for emerging arts organizations to be part of the marketing efforts and potentially reach new audiences. Though individually distinctive, the events are united by a common theme and presented to the broadest possible audience.

“Savor Albuquerque” kicks off on Friday, June 3 with the Savor Soirée.  For additional information and a schedule of events, visit www.savorabq.com.

The festival is presented through cooperative efforts between the Downtown Action Team, Creative Albuquerque, City of Albuquerque, Visit Albuquerque, members of the Albuquerque Arts & Culture District, and a multitude of our community’s arts and cultural organizations.
