SANTA ANA PUEBLO (October 2, 2014) - Autumn bringsa change of colors, a change in weather, and a time of giving. The Stables at Tamaya is hosting its annual Family Fall Festival every Saturday in October. Situated on the grounds of the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa, resort guests and the public can visit the Stables at Tamaya and experience "harvest-themed" doings. Net proceeds from the event go the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program; a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to saving abandoned, abused and neglected horses.

Since starting the Horse Rehabilitation Program nearly two years ago, stable master Connie Collis has rescued over 50 horses. The horse rehab operates at the Stables at Tamaya. Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa supports the rehab by raising funds through several channels including donating the revenues charged to attendees of its Friday night summer rodeos and the Saturday afternoon children's pumpkin patch events to cover operating expenses.

As Collis says, "When people learn how Hyatt is involved with the horse rehabilitation program they cannot believe it. The support that I receive from Hyatt Regency is beyond amazing."

Hyatt Regency Tamaya General Manager Colleen Kareti adds, "We're happy to be involved with such a worthy cause and have fun introducing kids and adults to the authentic equestrian experiences offered at the stables of Tamaya." Horse Abandonment and neglect continue to be a problem in New Mexico, especially as the economy is slow to recover. It's estimated that there are over 170,000 horses nationwide that need help. You can help by attending the Fall Festival. Kareti says, "The local community has already been calling the hotel asking if the Fall Festival has started. It's become a wonderful local tradition."

The events take place October 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and feature a hayride from the resort down to the stables, pumpkin decorating, pony lead-a-round rides and other crafts and games for kids. Each guest can enjoy a hotdog and lemonade included in the $15 fee; children age 12 and under, $10. Reservations are required.
