(Albuquerque, NM – March 19, 2012) – The New Mexico Rail Runner Express will operate on a new weekend train schedule beginning Saturday, April 7th. The new schedule will contain additional Saturday train times to provide passengers with more options for the upcoming summer season.

“This new Saturday and Sunday Rail Runner schedule will provide a variety of service with enhanced arrival and departure times for our weekend riders”, says Dewey Cave, Executive Director for the Mid-Region Council of Governments.

New Weekend Rail Runner Schedule – April 7th

• Two more trains will be added to both the northbound and southbound Saturday schedule allowing people more choices as to when they would like to arrive and depart from each station.

• The first train of the day will arrive in Santa Fe an hour earlier (10:16 a.m.) allowing people more time to enjoy the Farmer’s Market and other morning events at the Santa Fe Railyard.

• There will now be a train leaving Santa Fe at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday nights, allowing people to travel to Santa Fe, have dinner and then return to Downtown Albuquerque.

• The Saturday and Sunday schedule will remain in effect on a permanent basis and will not change for the winter months.
