Albuquerque – The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) is proud to present famed guitarist Gustavo Pimentel live in concert in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre on Saturday, November 20th at 8 pm.      Born in Albuquerque, NM into the world-renowned guitar family of Pimentel & Sons, Gustavo Pimentel took his first lessons with his father, the acclaimed guitar maker Lorenzo Pimentel. He graduated from the prestigious conservatory El Estudio de Arte Guitarristico, where he studied with director and Maestro Manuel López Ramos, compared favorably by the New York Times to Andrés Segovia, and pursued additional studies with classical guitarists Pepe and Celín Romero, better known worldwide as “The Romeros”.
     Recognized for the “Best Music of 2006” by the Albuquerque Journal, Pimentel has been described as “…world-class musician [whose] each note is clear and perfect.” He has toured in Mexico, Germany, and Spain, and has performed for the ambassadors of Mexico, Bolivia, and China, as well as three New Mexico governors including Gary Carruthers, Gary Johnson, and Bill Richardson. His CDs include The Cosmopolitan Guitar and Amor Gitano.
     Pimentel has taught master classes with Michael Newman and Laura Oltman, and is currently a guitar instructor at Pimentel Music Studios. He believes that music should be exciting, beautiful, moving, and insightful, and follows the philosophy that “only through dedication can one move forward.”
     The NHCC is a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs and strives to showcase Hispanic art and culture at the state, national and international levels.
