Albuquerque, NM—The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science will be open on Labor Day, September 6th, and is free to all visitors on September 11th! (The Lockheed Martin DynaTheater and Planetarium admission is by the regular charge.) In addition, the Museum will now be open every Monday in September.

There is something for everyone at this interactive, high-tech museum. The ancient past comes to life in the museum’s eight exhibit halls that make up the Walk Through Time. You can see New Mexico in the Late Triassic when it was a land of tropical floodplains and giant amphibians and crocodile-like phytosaurs prowled the waterways, walk amidst the largest land animals of all time in the late Jurassic, and then plunge into the sea during the Cretaceous and swim alongside mosasaurs and prehistoric sharks. Other highlights in your journey through time include an active volcano, Ice Age cave, Dire wolves, mammoths, and Albuquerque’s last camel!

At the Naturalist Center you can explore fossils, as well as learn about animals you will find in New Mexico today, observing them up close and personal. Meet Pretzel the king snake, Myrtle the turtle, and Coco Puff the woodhouse toad, among many others.

Other exciting exhibits include "Space Frontiers," featuring a full-scale model of the Mars rover and an amazing state-of-the-art computer interactive that interprets the Sun Dagger of Chaco Canyon, and "Startup: Albuquerque and the Personal Computer Revolution," which takes you on a journey through the development of the computer—from hulking machines that once filled an entire room to the discreet devices we tuck into our pockets today—highlighting the fact that the Computer Revolution was kicked off right here in Albuquerque, with Paul Allen, Bill Gates, Ed Roberts, and the Albuquerque Altair!

"Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia" opens on Thursday, September 2 in the Lockheed Martin DynaTheater! Follow world-renown Argentinian paleontologist Pr Rodolfo Coria as he visits sites of his major discoveries in Patagonia, then travel back in time to see these amazing Dinosaurs come back to life on a five-story giant screen. Shows play daily at 10 a.m., Noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Also playing is Wild Ocean at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

New Mexico’s largest domed theater, The Planetarium, is currently featuring three shows daily, including the recent release "Tales of the Maya Skies." Now playing: "Enchanted Skies" at 11 a.m.; "Tales of the Maya Skies" at Noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.; and a Double Feature with "Journey to the Stars" and "Two Small Pieces of Glass" at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
