ALBUQUERQUE-Mayor Martin J. Chávez and ABQ RIDE Director Greg Payne are pleased to announce the launch of the new Albuquerque International Sunport/Downtown Nonstop Express Route. The route begins service today, the same day as the inaugural Rail Runner Express trip to and from Santa Fe.
“This will be a fast and convenient way for Santa Fe Rail Runner commuters to get between the Sunport and Downtown Albuquerque,” said Mayor Chávez. “I believe this will attract many new commuters to ABQ Ride.”
The new route is a nonstop ride between the Alvarado Transportation Center and the Sunport designed especially for Santa Fe Rail Runner commuters. The line will run throughout the day Monday through Friday and corresponds with the Santa Fe train schedule.
“This route offers an easy fifteen-minute ride from Downtown Albuquerque to the Sunport,” said Director Payne. “ABQ Ride is pleased to offer this new service.”
In addition to the new Sunport/Downtown Nonstop Express Route, several existing routes have been adjusted to match the changes in the Rail Runner schedule. Those routes include the 151: Rio Rancho-ABQ/Rail Runner, the 222: Rio Bravo-Sunport-Kirtland, the 317: Downtown/KAFB Limited and the 96: Crosstown. Route changes take effect today.
