ALBUQUERQUE- Mayor Martin J. Chavez to announce the start of a new Rapid Ride route. ABQ Ride is taking yet another step to provide 21st Century transportation for a 21st Century city. The new Rapid Ride Green Line #777 brings service to eastern Albuquerque, by providing stops from the Downtown area east to the Four Hills area. “I am eager to see commuters leave behind their single occupancy vehicles and take advantage of this new route that provides Rapid Ride service to the eastern part of our city,” says Mayor Martin J. Chavez.

The Green Line overlaps the Red Line from Louisiana and Central to Downtown and overlaps the Westside Blue Line at UNM on Central Ave. The Rapid Ride is faster than traditional local bus service because of the limited stops. “We are always striving to meet the transportation needs of our community. We are excited to see our riders make this route part of their daily routine.” The Green Line will pick-up about every 30 minutes on the weekends. Saturday service begins at 6:00am, and Sunday service starts at 7:00am. Weekday service will pick up every 15 minutes starting at 5:30am.

On Monday, August 17, 2009 Mayor Martin J. Chavez will board the Green Line at Indian School and Central at 7:30am. Mayor Chavez will take the Rapid Ride to the UNM Rapid Ride stop at Central and Yale to celebrate ABQ Ride’s commitment to an efficient and growing Mass Transit system for the citizens of Albuquerque. The public is welcome to attend!
