Albuquerque, NM – In an effort to engage potential visitors to discover all of Albuquerque, New Mexico’s unique offerings, the Visit Albuquerque (Visit Albuquerque) has recruited 11 locals in 10 categories to help tell the city’s story. The campaign is aimed at encouraging interaction with the Visit Albuquerque website in order to find information tailored to individual visitors’ interests.

The “ABQ Experts” website, www.ItsATrip.org/ABQExperts incorporates videos, stories, photos and maps to provide customized information for travelers considering a trip to Albuquerque. Visitors are encouraged to submit questions to be answered by the experts. The experts will also be incorporated throughout the Visit Albuquerque website – www.ItsATrip.org – the official travel site for Albuquerque.

The local residents were chosen as “experts” based on knowledge of their subject area and their passion for Albuquerque. Several of the experts are not originally from Albuquerque, but have chosen this city, which was recently named one of US News and World Report’s “Best Cities to Live In,” because of the abundance of art and culture, the unique cuisine, the affordability, and the outstanding climate, which lends itself to outdoor activities year-round.

“Being able to help spark interest in travel to Albuquerque is truly a privilege,” said Pamela Michaelis, Albuquerque’s Art Expert. “This city is a wonderfully rich place to live and is full of treasures waiting to be explored by people from around the world.”

The site encourages interaction with the experts to help visitors find the exact information they are seeking online.

“Personalizing the online experience is crucial in the era of social media. The ABQ Experts provide insider local perspectives to encourage visitors to discover all that Albuquerque has to offer, which may be under the radar,” said Dale Lockett, Visit Albuquerque President/CEO. “These 11 local residents are passionate about living in Albuquerque and we hope that passion will be evident to visitors as well as other locals.”
As a result of developing the ABQ Experts content, Visit Albuquerque staff was inspired to remind locals about what a great city we live in as well. Residents have been encouraged to share photos and comments about why they love living in Albuquerque at www.WhyWeLoveABQ.com.
