ALBUQUERQUE, NM / Harwood Art Center is pleased to announce the 11th Annual 12x12 Fundraising Exhibition, one of Albuquerque's most anticipated annual events. Over 250 local artists of all ages have created and donated original 6"x6", 12"x12" and larger "Prelude" works for the occasion. 12"x12" works by emerging and established artists are sold for $144 each and Youth 6"x6" and 12"x12" works are sold for a flat rate of $36 and $44 respectively. Prelude works are available for direct purchase at various prices online (www.harwoodartcenter.org) or in person at Harwood Art Center. The 11th Annual 12x12 Fundraising Exhibition will take place from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Saturday, December 2 at Harwood Art Center, 1114 7th Street NW.

Hundreds of people attend 12x12 each year. The line to enter the exhibitions and purchase artwork begins forming hours before the gallery doors open. The reception is exciting and suspenseful, as artists' names are not revealed until purchase. All funds raised through 12x12 support Harwood's arts education MEDIA RELEASE ***more*** and community outreach programs. All funds raised support Harwood's free community arts education, outreach and professional development programs - multifaceted, immersive offerings shaped by and for participants of all ages, backgrounds and perspectives.

The 11th Annual 12x12 Fundraising Exhibition features:

  • 12"x12" works by over 130 emerging and established artists, who remain anonymous until the works are purchased. Each piece is sold for $144 on the night of the 12x12 event, Saturday, December 2, on a first come, first served basis. 

  • 6"x6" and 12"x12" works by student artists from Escuela del Sol Montessori, Garfield Middle School and Hayes Middle School. These works also remain anonymous until they are purchased. Each 6"x6" piece is sold for $36 and each 12"x12" piece is sold for $44. They are first offered to the children's parents and then to the public on the night of the 12x12 event

  • We've reconceived Prelude, our featured exhibition, to highlight the intersections of art, design and daily living. Prelude supports Harwood *and* our collaborating artists, who receive a percentage of sales. Participating artists include Lea Anderson, Adam Billie, Joel Davis, Jane Gordon, Jonathan Guiney, Danny Hart, Eric Haskins, Eric J. Martinez, Cecilia McKinnon, Candy Nartonis, and David Santiago. Works are available for direct purchase at Harwood or online at www.harwoodartcenter.org (Nov 20 - Dec 8).

In addition to the exhibitions and auction, the 12x12 event will feature the music of Los Metamorfos and food generously provided by over a dozen local restaurants. The event is family friendly and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 - $20 at the door. All funds raised support Harwood's free community arts education, outreach and professional development programs - multifaceted, immersive offerings shaped by and for participants of all ages, backgrounds and perspectives.

We believe that equitable access to the arts and opportunities for creative expression are integral to inspired, passionate individuals and to healthy, vibrant communities.
