Albuquerque, NM (August 15, 2014) - ¡Globalquerque! New Mexico's Annual Celebration of World
Music & Culture, the Southwest's biggest world music and culture party, will again descend on the
beautiful National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) along the banks of the Rio Grande in Albuquerque, NM. 2014 finds ¡Globalquerque! celebrating ten years of successfully mixing the most eclectic lineups of world-class acts from across the planet - from the traditional to the cutting-edge - the legendary to up-and-coming new discoveries!

¡Globalquerque! will bring the world to Albuquerque and the Southwest on September 19 + 20, 2014. The weekend promises to be another spectacular cultural and musical trip. Confirmed acts (a/o August 14) include the celebrated Cuban big-band Afro-Cuban Allstars led by Juan de Marcos, one of the founding members of the Buena Vista Social Club, France's uncatergorizable musical adventurists Lo'Jo, soulful Latin Grammy "Best New Artist" Gaby Moreno (Guatemala), Hungarian string wizards Söndörgo, Trinidadian calypso and soca icon Calypso Rose, Grammy-winning Texas conunto kings Los Texmaniacs, stunning young Malian guitarist Oumar Konate, renowned Colombian vallenato and cumbia master Beto Jamaica, the vibrant and animated music and dance of award-winning Native flute player Robert "Tree" Cody and Native Wisdom Dance Theatre (Maricopa/Inter-Tribal), the mesmerizing traditional beauty of Chinese pi'pa virtuoso Liu Fang and are only the tip of the global musical iceberg. Enjoy performances on three stages - the charming Fountain Courtyard, the expansive Plaza Mayor and the state-of-the-art Journal Theatre.

In addition to the evening performances, each year ¡Globalquerque! presents the popular Free
Daytime Global Fiesta on Saturday. Among the fun and educational activities, are family-focused
workshops with visiting performers, talks and presentations, international dance lessons, film, the
¡GlobalCOOKIE! decorating contest, Planet Music (a musical instrument "petting zoo" - please touch and play!), instrument building for kids of all ages and other hands-on cultural craft making. There are musical and cultural surprises are around every corner! The ever popular Global Village of Craft, Culture & Cuisine, replete with booths featuring art work, artisan crafts and gourmet international cuisine, is open throughout the festival. It all makes ¡Globalquerque! a colorful and dynamic world of it's own guaranteed to draw the festival-goer in while keeping them engaged and entertained.

This year ¡Globalquerque! is expanding it's partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center to present a month-long International Film Series featuring six films from around the globe spanning all genres including music, documentary, comedy and drama. Four films will be presented for free each Thursday in September in the Bank of America Theatre at the NHCC, with two films will screen during the festival's Free Daytime Global Fiesta on Saturday September 20. Films include A Thousand Voices (New Mexico, USA), Alamar (México), The Piano In The Factory (China), Seen But Not Heard (USA), We Are Together (South Africa) and The Wind Journeys (Colombia).
