ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The 2012 New Mexico State Fair will offer FREE gate admission tomorrow, Wednesday, September 19th all day.

“It’s the best way we can think of to make the Fair available to the largest number of people,” said State Fair General Manager Dan Mourning. “We want every New Mexican to be able to enjoy the event we’ve worked so hard to put together, and we understand that the economy is still pretty tough out there for most people in our state.

“We teamed up with our carnival provider, Murphy Brothers Exposition, to provide this special day on which people from all over the state can come into the Fair free of charge to enjoy this once-a-year spectacle of arts, entertainment and culture, and to have that chance to make some lifelong memories while they’re here with their families, friends and loved ones,” Mourning continued.

NOTE: Regrettably, the Albuquerque Journal erroneously published in its State Fair Special Section that Admission price today, Tuesday, September 18th as $2. This was an error on the part of the Journal. A correction published in the Saturday, September 15 edition of the Journal correctly stated that regular admission prices would apply today. However, the Fair realizes that a printed correction does little good, so in the spirit and interest of goodwill, the Fair will honor $2 admission today to those who ask at the ticket booths. The Fair cannot, however, issue refunds on tickets already purchased.

Regular gate admission prices return on Thursday, September 20th, but the Midway Carnival will offer half-price ($10) all-day ride wristbands that day.

Parking on-grounds during the 2012 New Mexico State Fair is FREE throughout its run.
