Albuquerque, N.M.  The award-winning one-man show, Einstein: A Stage
Portrait, hits Route 66 Mother Road on August 10-12, 2007 as a benefit for
Mother Road Theatre Company, Albuquerque’s newest professional theatre
group. VSA Arts of New Mexico, 4904 Fourth St. NE, along historic Route 66
is the venue for three performances of the play, written by Willard Simms
and portrayed by Tom Schuch.

Einstein: A Stage Portrait brings to life the brilliant, dedicated and
sometimes-controversial theoretical physicist who TIME magazine called their
Person of the Century. It’s 1946, the Bomb has been dropped and the world
has forever changed. Albert Einstein has invited the audience into his home
to set the record straight about his life in an evening of humor,
introspection, science and a little violin. Critics and audience members
alike have found Einstein and Schuch’s portrayal of the legendary man both
entertaining and educational.

Alan Arkin, actor/writer/director, said, “Tom, your performance of Einstein
is filled with wisdom and warmth and wonderful nuance. Thank you for what is
a very special, very moving evening.”

Ann L. Ryan, former Theatre Critic for the Albuquerque Journal, wrote, “Tom
Schuch is an absolute pleasure to watch!”

Richard spray, Theatre Critic for KKJY-AM, said, “Mr. Schuch’s portrayal of
the brilliant scientist is truly remarkable!”

Einstein: A Stage Portrait, runs Friday and Saturday August 10 and 11 at 8
p.m., and Sunday, August 12 at 2 p.m. at North 4th Arts Center, 4904 4th St
NW. Tickets for Friday and Sunday’s performances are $20 general admission,
$15 seniors/students. Saturday’s gala performance is $50 and includes live
music, a silent auction, post show Q&A and reception. For information and

Mother Road Theatre Company comprises a core of six highly trained,
critically acclaimed and supremely motivated individuals: Julia Thudium, Vic
Browder, Kristin De la O, Michael Dolce, David Sinkus and Tom Schuch. The
company shares years of experience in all aspects of theatrical production,
successful entrepreneurial enterprises and business management.

Fresh off of collaborating with VSA Arts on Suzan Lori Parks’ 365 Plays at
the end of June, Mother Road is hitting the ground running, thrilled to be a
new artistic presence on the Albuquerque theatre scene.

“We share a vision in which the arts in New Mexico are central to the
state’s economic stability, progress and continuing renown, particularly in
the arena of professional regional theatre,” says Schuch. “In a state where
film industries have an ever increasing presence and where the arts are an
inherent part of New Mexico’s identity, Mother Road Theatre Company was born
to tap into this creative and entrepreneurial momentum.”

Mother Road’s educational outreach component for children has already begun,
with the completion of its first pilot program - Storytelling to Playwriting
- at Van Buren Middle School. It was so successful that Mother Road will be
bringing its Producing Partners program to Van Buren next year, with their
teaching artists helping to team teach a whole unit of study. The adult
education program developed by the company had its first workshop this
spring.

Mother Road also announces its excitement at welcoming Academy Award Winner
Alan Arkin as the first member of their Artistic Advisory Council. Appearing
in over 70 films and numerous plays both on Broadway and off, Arkin’s
illustrious 40-year career includes winning the 2007 Oscar for Best
Supporting Actor for his role as Grandpa in Little Miss Sunshine.

Audiences will decide the shows the company produces in its inaugural season
through its “Prebut,” (pronounced pree-byoo) scheduled for September 2007.
The company will stage five scenes from plays that embody the “Open Road”
theme. The audience favorite will become the debut show in January 2008. Two
of the shows not picked for the debut will round out the season.
