What:             United Association of Communicators 2011 Annual Meeting

Who:               Nearly 100 United Methodist communicators from across the United States will gather to experience Albuquerque, network and expand their skills.

Details: The theme for the 2011 is “Rising to New Heights: Communicating in Diverse World.” The keynote speaker is Rev. Lorenza Andrade Smith, A United Methodist pastor who was arrested in late 2010 for protesting for immigrant rights. Her new appointment is to the poor and marginalized on the streets of El Paso. She will speak at 12:30pm on Wednesday, October 19th.

On Tuesday, October 18th, 45 of the attendees will participate in mission projects at Casa de Esparanza and The Storehouse to spend three hours assisting with a variety of needs. 

This convention was booked by the Visit Albuquerque and is expected to generate 229 hotel room nights and more than $55,000 in direct spending to Albuquerque during their four-day conference.
