The USA Indoor Track and Field Championships are the final event of the Indoor Visa Championship Series, a prestigious series of nationally televised USA Track and Field competitions. Approximately 400 of the very best track and field athletes from Team USA will be competing for a total prize of $130,000, the title of National Champion and the opportunity to qualify for a spot on Team USA for the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
The International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) World Indoor Championships will take place March 9-12, 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey. National teams gather each year to compete in track and field and this year’s event looks to be a record-breaking year. Preliminary entries were due on December 12th, and no fewer than 160 nations have confirmed their intention of attending the event in Istanbul.
The USA Track and Field Championships taking place in Albuquerque in February will determine which of the approximately 400 athletes will get the opportunity to compete in Istanbul in 2012.
