INDIANAPOLIS - The 2011 USA Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships have been awarded to Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Track & Field announced Friday. The championships will be held March 4-6 in the Albuquerque Convention Center. Nearly 1,000 athletes, ages 30-99, are expected to compete in the championships.

"We are excited to have Albuquerque host the 2011 USA Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships," said USATF CEO Doug Logan. " Albuquerque was a wonderful host to this year's USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in February and with the addition of the Masters championships in 2011 they have put themselves on the map as one of the nation's premier sites for Indoor Track & Field in the United States."

2011 will mark the first year since 2005, and only the second time since 1998, that the Masters Indoor Championships will be held away from the East Coast. The 2005 championships were held in Nampa, Idaho.

The weekend before hosting the Masters Championships, Albuquerque will once again host the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 26-27, 2011.

"We could not be more excited to be hosting the Masters Indoor Championships next year," said Dan Ballou, Director of Sports Marketing for the Visit Albuquerque (Visit Albuquerque). "We fully expect to put on a first class event for the athletes. Albuquerque is becoming a hotbed of indoor track and field at the national level, and having the 2011 USATF Masters Championship is another example of how the indoor track continues to draw visitors to our city."
