ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Albuquerque’s own Al Sanchez, known as Al Hurricane, will be featured on the “Local Legends” series on the CBS Early Show, a national morning TV program on December 26th.

Known as the “Godfather of New Mexican Music,” Al Hurricane has been performing in New Mexico and around the world for more than 50 years since he first performed in Old Town as a young boy. He has released 30 albums over the course of his career, gained numerous musical awards and is a household name across New Mexico.

Sanchez was suggested as a local legend by the Visit Albuquerque and the City of Albuquerque due to his prominent role as a musician in our community.

The “Local Legends” series aims to showcase local talent on the national level and will be featuring artists from across the country. This is a remarkable opportunity for Al Hurricane to be recognized on a national level for his legendary status in New Mexico.

The feature story will air on Monday, December 26, 2011 during the CBS Early Show, which airs from 7-9am mountain time on KRQE, Channel 13.
