BioPark Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Apes

While the apes remain on exhibit, take a rare visit into the night quarters of the gorillas and orangutans. Meet the keepers and find out how they care for the apes, including diets, enrichment and training. You will also learn about gorillas and orangutans in the wild. After you have explored the building, keepers will invite an animal inside for a training session. See how these extremely intelligent animals work together with zookeepers to build a trusting relationship and stay healthy. The tour will also include the opportunity to make some enrichment items to be given to the apes at a later date. Next, your guide will take you to the public side of the exhibit to talk about the animals’ behaviors and share stories of some memorable ape moments at the BioPark. All proceeds directly benefit the animals seen on the tour.
