Summer is officially here and if you're like me, that means sandals, sunglasses and sunscreen! It also means finding a spot to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends. Here are a few ideas to get you started!
Freedom 4th Celebration
Kick your Fourth of July weekend off with a bang at the Freedom 4th Celebration at Balloon Fiesta Park. Enjoy live music from local musicians through out the day with a performance from Lonestar, four "good ol boys" from Texas who have sold more than ten million albulm and achieved ten #1country hits. There will also be a food vendors, a classic car show, a balloon glow and a kids activity section. The evening will end with one of the state's largest firework displays!
Insider Tip: Beat the traffic by taking the Park and Ride to and from the park.
What could be more American than baseball? Head out to Isotopes Ballpark where the Albuquerque Isotopes will take on the El Paso Chihuahuas July 4-6th. There will be a special fireworks show following the game on Friday and Saturday.
Insider Tip: Grab a ticket in the lawn seats and bring a blanket.
Red, White & Balloons
If you want to avoid the large crowd at Balloon Fiesta Park, head to the Anderson-Abruzzo Balloon Museum for a special 4th of July celebration: Red, White & Balloons. Listen to patriotic tunes from the Albuquerque Concert Band while enjoying a Stars-N-Stripes Dinner or a picnic brought from home.
13th Annual Pork & Brew
Nothing says summer like barbeque, and the Pork & Brew will not disappoint! This 3-day festival features great food from some of the best barbeque vendors in the state, local breweries, live music and a fun kids area. Winners of the BBQ Championship will advance to the Kansas City BBQ Society's National Championship.
Insider Tip: Be sure to stock up on BBQ Bucks, the official currency of Pork & Brew. BBQ Bucks can be purchased on the day of the event at the gate and box office windows.
