River of Lights

Experience millions of glowing, sparkling lights and over 150 dazzling light displays, animated sculptures and synchronized music light show at New Mexico’s largest walk-through holiday production. 

Light Among the Ruins

The ruins of Giusewa Pueblo and San José de los Jemez Mission will be decorated with hundreds of farolitos.  Each evening’s program will include traditional Native American flute music and Jemez Pueblo dancers’ performing between two illuminating bon-fires. The Historic Site will also host an arts and crafts fair and have food available for purchase.

New Mexico Artisan Market

Winterfest

Winterfest will back on the plaza! This a free event to start off the holiday season on Civic Plaza! There are lots of great local vendors for all your Christmas shopping needs! Santa Claus will be making a stop for kids to talk to! It is also the grand opening of the Holiday Ice Qube Skating Rink Season! Skating is free; skate rentals are $3. There will be comfort food, lots of holiday treats, hot cocoa, eggnog and adult libations to warm you up! And all of the Civic Plaza Christmas decorations will be up. Don’t miss this family-friendly holiday tradition on Civic Plaza!

Rio Grande Arts & Crafts Festival:  Holiday Show

Kick-off holiday shopping while supporting artists! Shoppers can find the most memorable and original gifts, whether it’s a whimsical piece of pottery, a handmade leather belt, one-of-a-kind jewelry or a striking piece of fine art. It’s no surprise that this festival takes the turkey when it comes to New Mexico’s Thanksgiving Weekend traditions!  Enjoy festive music all day long in both halls! Performance:  The Nutcracker

Kick off your holiday season with the professionals of the New Mexico Ballet Company and the timeless tale of the Nutcracker. Enjoy the magical story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they battle the Rat King and travel to the Land of Sweets. Set to Tchaikovsky’s original musical score, performed by the New Mexico Philharmonic, and featuring new choreography by Evelyn Cisneros-Legate, this ballet is the one to see this holiday season. This year's production will shine a bit brighter with special performances by current New York City Ballet stars! Opening THANKSGIVING WEEKEND, don't miss the magic of the Nutcracker!
