22nd Annual Placitas Studio Tour
Over sixty Placitas artists will open their doors and welcome guests to the fascinating spaces where the artwork takes shape. Come explore the many unique artist studios in the rolling foothills of the northern Sandias. Meet and talk directly with the artists about their work, their environment, and their latest creations. The tour offers a wide array of new arts and crafts at the studio locations. We love our magnificent views of the Sandia Mountains and the natural beauty of Placitas.
Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Festival
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History and Sandia National Laboratories Asian Leadership & Outreach committee will be hosting the 23rd Annual Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Festival, celebrating the cultural traditions, ancestry, native languages and unique experiences represented among ethnic groups from Asia and the Pacific. Lion dancers, Taiko drumming, calligraphy and origami demonstrations and many more exciting activities will fill the day. Museum visitors will be treated to a cultural experience through performances, presentations, exhibits and activities, including food samples.
Summertime in Old Town-Live Music
Every weekend from May through August, Historic Old Town is the best place to be! With beautiful plazas, great food, unique local shops, and live music on the gazebo, it is the perfect way to spend a day with local friends, family and out-of-towners. New Mexico Philharmonic Zoo Concerts: Music for Every Mom!
The New Mexico Philharmonic celebrates every New Mexico mom with a FREE Mother’s Day concert at the BioPark Zoo, included in the price of zoo admission! Bring the whole family as Maestro Roger Melone conducts an afternoon filled with musical gems, especially for mom. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, or bring your own picnic lunch, blankets, and chairs!
Mothers’s Day Flamenco Showcase
Come support our youth and adult students as they perform choreographies they have been working hard on all semester and celebrate Mother's Day! This is also a chance to learn about classes, meet the instructors, and see for yourself the magic that is happening at Flamenco Works!
Kimo Theatre: Fact and Folklore Book Launch
Come celebrate the publication of KiMo Theatre, Fact & Folklore. This free event features performances by several groups and individuals who have called the KiMo home over many years including Paz from the Ehecatl Aztec Dancers, the New Mexico Young Actors, The Watermelon Mountain Jug Band and more. The event is free of charge and open to the community
