  • 15th Annual Pork & Brew Festival

Featured on the Cooking Channel’s show, Carnival Eats, the 15th Annual Pork and Brew is returning this weekend. Bringing together the best barbecue vendors from around the Southwest region, this three-day festival features BBQ, beer, live music, cooking demos and interactive family activities. There will also be a petting zoo and pig races sponsored by the Galloping Grace youth Ranch. Feeling competitive? Don’t miss out on the kid’s watermelon and adult pie eating contests that will take place twice daily.

  • World Cup Watch Parties @ Civic Plaza

Soccer is widely considered one of the largest sports worldwide, and every four years everyone comes together for the World Cup. This year, fans of Soccer in Albuquerque can come together to watch the World Cup at Civic Plaza. Join USL New Mexico, the state’s first professional soccer team, to watch the games on the big screen for free! There will also be an opportunity to purchase advance tickets for USL New Mexico games.

  • Wildlife Festival

Wildlife West Nature Park’s zoo is one of the few places where visitors can get up close and personal with New Mexico’s native wildlife in their natural habitat. On Saturday, get a behind- the-scenes look at Koshari, a 500-pound black bear.  There will also be a special showing of the film, Phoenix Wilder and the Great Elephant Adventure, and the Herpetological Society will be showcasing their fascinating reptiles. Stick around for the Chuckwagon BBQ afterwards, and live Western Swing Music performed by the Watermelon Mountain Jug Band.

  • Duke City Comic Con

The Duke City Comic Con is back this weekend, a convention which aims to bring together comic book lovers and pop culture lovers. Featuring collectible dealers, film and television stars and comic book creators. This year, there will be many special guests hosting panels or meet-and-greets. Audry DuBois, also known as the original Yellow Power Ranger, will be in attendance. Tom Kane, a voice actor who is behind some of the voices from Star Wars and The Powerpuff Girls will also be making an appearance – among many others.

  • ABQ Food Friday

This summer enjoy a free weekly pop-up happy hour in Civic Plaza. Featuring live music, games, local ABQ brews and delicious food from a different restaurant each week – prepared in the “Silver Spoon” – Civic Plaza’s new mobile kitchen inside of a renovated Airstream trailer.
