Get to know some of the most endearing animals at the ABQ BioPark. This keeper-guided adventure includes the chance to meet and feed the hippos and their neighbor, the muntjac. Feed the hungry hippos a snack, enter the barn, and help the zookeeper welcome the hippos inside, find out how Moe marks his territory, and check out the amazing array of enrichment that keeps our playful hippos healthy and active. You will also learn about the incredible care our hippos receive and spend some quality time with the Reeve’s muntjac, a tiny deer with a big attitude and a love of Cheerios.
Bagels meet bongos in THE MAMBONIKS, a 90-minute documentary that tells the little-known story of the Jewish love affair with Latin music. Set in New York, Havana, Miami Beach, and the Catskill Mountains, this uplifting film features a lovable, somewhat zany collection of dancers from the 1950s. Now retired yet still dancing in Florida, they share their passion for the mambo, the hot dance from Cuba that became a world-wide sensation. With an infectious soundtrack including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and Mambo King Pérez Prado, this film explores a mostly unexamined - and surprising - aspect of Jewish life and culture. Following the film, please join us in the Lobby for a Cuban Nosh and cash bar.
