Celebrate New Mexico’s grape harvest by sampling wines from 20 of the state’s top wineries. Shop fine food and art in cool shade and comfort while enjoying dueling piano players from Uptown Funk Dueling Piano Bar. Tickets include a wine glass, wine sampling, and $5 off any bottle of wine. Parking is free.
- Cactus and Succulent Show
The Cactus and Succulent Society of New Mexico (CSSNM) will have an exhibition of prize-winning plants along with some presentations and demonstrations during Labor Day weekend. Come see some of the exotic, fascinating, occasionally confusing, and wonderful plants from the world of cacti and other succulents. Learn about the cold hardy plants that work well in Albuquerque landscapes, including many “non-prickly” ones, how to handle the “prickly” ones, and even learn about the edible ones. Join us for a fun and educational event.
- Performance: Pride and Prejudice
A perfect date night idea or girls night out, come see the live adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice! This ultimate classic love story tells the tale of independent Elizabeth Bennet, and the journey she takes with handsome but enigmatic Mr. Darcy accompanied by his pride and her prejudice. The two must overcome their own weaknesses before the most famous courtship in history can begin!
- 2018 Heart of NM Fiber Gathering
The 5th Annual Heart of NM Fiber Gathering showcases local farmers, shepherds, fiber artists and suppliers. Activities include vendor booths; an art show of all media; local musicians including the Abq Children’s Philharmonic; sheep, goats and llamas; demos of spinning, knitting, quilting and other fiber arts; a hands-on educational table for children; food; a fleece and wool contest and the park's own animals, all of whom are rescued and being rehabilitated. Stay for the last Saturday night Cowboy Chuckwagon BBQ/Western Music Show of the season with the Watermelon Mountain Jug band at 6 – 9 p.m. in covered all-weather amphitheater.
- Patriot's Picnic
Celebrate Labor Day weekend with a Patriot Picnic at New Mexico Veterans’ Memorial and hear a special performance by the Albuquerque Concert Band, followed by an outdoor showing of Captain America: The First Avenger. This free, family-friendly event will feature kids’ activities, a beer garden, and food trucks. Picnics are welcome and lawn chairs and blankets encouraged.
