Founded in 1889 as New Mexico’s flagship institution, the University of New Mexico now occupies nearly 800 acres along old Route 66. The Pueblo Revival style of campus buildings echo nearby Pueblo Indian villages. The nationally recognized campus arboretum and the popular duck pond offer an outstanding botanical experience in the midst of one of New Mexico's great public open spaces.
Athletes in the NCAA Division I championships will be competing on a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track that has 60m straightaways running the entire length of the facility. It includes men’s and women’s jumping runways and pits as well as an area for shot put, pole vault and high jump events. The surface of the track is red and white Mondo. Prior competitions here have included USA Track & Field Nationals and Masters, Mountain West Conference, and Division II NCAA championships.
