The International Legends Cup is a one of a kind event that is an "All-Star" game of sorts of World Cup Legends. Carlos Valderrama, the world-renowned Columbian soccer superstar headlines this cast of extremely popular and well known soccer players. What is unique about this event is that it's not just a soccer game. There's a concert and much more.
On Sunday September 7th, 2014 there are two FREE soccer clinics to be taking place, one in Albuquerque and one in Santa Fe. Locations and times for clinics will be announced in the coming week via the event website, www.InternationalLegendsCup.com. The week leading up to the match, is known as "International Legends Cup Week." On Wednesday September 10th, soccer superstars will be visiting schools and hospitals to surprise kids all around the city. Thursday September 11th will be a VIP banquet where each table will have an international soccer legend dining with them at the Marriott Pyramid North. On Friday September 12th, the "Legends Cup Express" (The Railrunner) heads up to Santa Fe for the players to make appearances in our state's capital.
Prior to kickoff of the game, on September 13th, a "Soccer Village" kicks off at 12:00 p.m. in the parking lot of University Stadium at UNM. Kickoff is at 4:00 p.m. and concluding the game is a two-band concert, included with the price of a ticket. The bands performing are Pesado and Banda Trakalosa de Monterrey.
