Old Town Holiday Stroll to Feature Free Concert

Brass Quintet to Perform at San Felipe de Neri Church
ALBUQUERQUE, NM—One of Albuquerque’s most popular holiday events, the Old Town Holiday Stroll, will take place throughout the Old Town area on Friday, December 2nd from 4 – 9:30 p.m.

The special event attracts thousands of visitors to Old Town with live music and other entertainment, delicious aromas of hot chocolate and spicy treats wafting from area shops and restaurants, and the opportunity to shop for unique gifts at Old Town’s many shops and galleries, many offering special discounts.
To herald the season and get the crowd in a holiday mood, a free concert at San Felipe de Neri Church featuring a brass quintet of talented area professional musicians will create a festive atmosphere with a performance of light classical, popular favorites and holiday music. Because seating inside the church is limited, speakers will be placed outdoors so the holiday crowds can also enjoy the concert. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and visitors are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a seat. The brass quintet is part of The Figueroa Project, An organization dedicated to artistic excellence and to “Redefining the musical experience for our times.”

Following the concert’s end at 5:30 p.m., visitors will gather for the lighting of the giant holiday tree. Mayor Richard J. Berry and other dignitaries will lead in the traditional lighting that marks the “official” beginning of the holiday shopping season in Old Town.
Live entertainment focused on holiday traditions from around the world, with colorfully costumed performers sharing their favorite traditions in many languages. The opportunity to “travel the world” by sharing in those traditions while experiencing the special treasure that is Albuquerque’s Old Town is priceless.
