Santa Fe, NM --- Mother Nature has blessed New Mexico this year, dousing the state with just the right amount of snowfall to make for some of the best skiing conditions found anywhere in the country.

“With 55 to 65 inch bases around the state, New Mexico is an incredible winter destination for our visitors,” said Monique Jacobson, Secretary of the New Mexico Tourism Department. “Unlike most of the country, 2011 has been extremely good to the New Mexico ski areas, blanketing them in new snow weekly, making for the best early season skiing in years.”

Snowstorms whirled into the state last week, dumping the powdery white stuff that eager winter-sports enthusiasts wait for all year. All ten of New Mexico’s ski areas are up and running offering pristine landscapes, outstanding terrain and a great value.

“When visitors come to ski New Mexico, they not only get an adventure on the slopes but can experience adventures in rich culture, cuisine and art.” Jacobson said. “Ancient Native American communities, historic Spanish towns and the spirit of the Old West are all part of what makes New Mexico distinctive.”
