Albuquerque, NM, June 21, 2010 - Just in time for the spectacular Albuquerque Balloon Festival, a new boutique property, Hotel Parq Central, will open this fall. The prime location, in the heart of trendy EDo (East of downtown) and on historic Route 66, is close to some of Albuquerque’s best restaurants and up-and-coming galleries. The 74-room hotel has been meticulously designed to reference the historic old Memorial Hospital that first opened in 1926 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The well-known site has long been a landmark of the city, and the entire building project was completed by in-state firms such as Studio Southwest Architects Inc., Klinger Constructors, and HVL Interiors as a way of keeping the community involved. The team worked creatively to ensure that the property retained and restored many of the unique original features while incorporating a modern sensibility and stylish amenities.

The front entrance’s “grand staircase” has been restored and the interior columns are finished with handmade New Mexico tile. A rooftop “Apothecary Bar” with skyline and mountain views, and where guests can sip classic 1920s-themed cocktails and snack on tapas, showcases antique apothecary bottles and a wall decoupaged with vintage-era medicinal labels.
Original clay tiles have been used throughout the hotel and in the rooms (18 of which are suites), and the working features of the 1926-era windows were salvaged, including the frames, sashes, and jams as well as the decorative tile below.
The hotel features spacious conference rooms and a business center, an exercise room, massage services, LCD flat-screen TVs, and high quality linens and bath products.
True to its name, Hotel Parq Central makes room for three lushly landscaped gardens over a half acre of outdoor space, which will feature a deck, a hot tub, and a light-filled conservatory that opens onto an outdoor living plaza.
