B&B Owner Offers Special Wedding Package in Beautiful Setting to Couples Facing a Tight Economy

Albuquerque, NM, February 11, 2009—Kim Vejil believes every couple in love should have a beautiful setting for their most important wedding day. The owner of Casa de Colores, a hacienda type bed and breakfast just minutes from Old Town that features an authentic New Mexico-style chapel, wants every couple getting married to have the experience of a lifetime. “In this economic climate many couples may not be able to pay for their dream wedding, but that doesn’t mean their wedding should be held in an environment that doesn’t support their dreams.” She noted that many small non-church weddings are held in judge’s chambers, hardly the romantic setting of anyone’s dreams.

So, she is offering “High Class, Low Budget” weddings with a flair.  Colores Chapel is a beautiful small chapel that holds up to 30 guests and offers an intimate and charming backdrop for their vows. Add a beautiful and artfully decorated living area for a simple reception, and in good weather, a pool are, cantina and cabana for outdoor enjoyment.

Vejil’s wedding packages offer the basics—bride, groom and two guests, beautifully decorated chapel, ordained minister to officiate, taped music, and a lovely setting both indoors and out for photographs, all for the bargain price of only $200.00. For a bit more, she will add in the bride’s selection from a choice of three charming bridal bouquets, a wedding cake, light appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages for a reception, plus servers.  Alcoholic beverages may be brought in by the wedding party. In warm weather, a large outdoor garden that holds up to 75 guests is the perfect setting for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and reception. A number of options are available—including a guest suite for the honeymooners.

“When my late husband Rey and I bought this hacienda in 1997, we determined that this charming wedding chapel would be a major part of our services,” she noted. Rey performed the ceremonies for dozens and dozens of couples over the years.  After the death of her beloved husband, Vejil found it difficult to continue her business without him. “He was the heart and soul of the business and left a huge void,” she said. Recently, she has revived her interest in offering guests and celebrants alike the beautiful and inviting atmosphere of the hacienda and chapel. “Our daughter Suzanna initially wanted to take up that role, but found it too difficult in the aftermath of his loss. She has recently joined me in providing beautiful ceremonies for weddings, and also for couples wanting to renew their vows.”

Vejil repeated her desire to offer all couples in love the option of a beautiful, meaningful and very special wedding at a highly affordable price. “We all have to watch our dollars even more now, and opting for a wedding in a beautiful setting over one in a judge’s chamber will give the couple the feeling that their special moment was truly special.“

Casa de Colores also features a large garden area for warm-weather weddings and events that can accommodate up to 75 guests. “Everyone who comes here falls in love with this place,” says owner Vejil.  “The North Valley setting is beautiful, and Casa de Colores is truly ‘in the heart of the City, but a world away.’”

Vejil also noted that while the chapel is a hacienda-style design that reflects the Catholic traditions of the period, people of all faiths have chosen it for their weddings. “We’ve had couples who represent a wide range of beliefs as well as many who do not profess a particular faith, but want to marry in a traditional atmosphere,” she added.

Entering the property through a simple stucco-covered gate, guests continue down a long tree-lined road to arrive at the traditional hacienda. The entry leads guests past the pool area to arrive at the central living area, with the chapel adjacent. One of the guest rooms may be set aside for the bride to prepare for her big moment.

Casa de Colores Bed & Breakfast hosts visitors from around the world, offering a quiet relaxing setting with the convenience of being just minutes from many of Albuquerque’s  most popular sights, the BioPark, Old Town, the historic KiMo Theatre, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and much more. Easy access to I-40 makes the site a most popular destination.
