Albuquerque “shop local” message focus of ACVB holiday promotion

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (December 13, 2010) – The Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is making a list and checking it twice this holiday season encouraging all of our client and visitor audiences to purchase local gifts from the Albuquerque area. A new holiday promotion was just launched called “These are a few of our favorite Albuquerque things.”

The promotion shares a variety of gift items that are special and unique to New Mexico with audiences ranging from meeting planners and travel media to potential visitors from all across the country.

Thirty items were donated by ACVB partners including local retail shops, boutiques, bakeries, restaurants and galleries and are featured on the website  The website features 30 gifts to be discovered. People are encouraged to enter to win a sweepstakes, which will give away each of the 30 items in January, including a trip to visit. The hope is that they will also be inspired to spread the spirit of the season by purchasing one of the items as a holiday gift and supporting local Albuquerque businesses.

“Local artists, bakers and shopkeepers are crucial in sharing the culture of Albuquerque with visitors who come to our city and we hope this promotion will help expand their reach during the important holiday shopping season,” said Dale Lockett, President/CEO of the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Albuquerque residents are also invited to participate in the sweepstakes by going to and sharing the page with others. Locals are also encouraged to use this page as reference for a great list of Albuquerque gift ideas. Please feel free to share the site through your social media channels or on your website as well.
