Bernalillo County – Get outside and enjoy the best local food and drink New Mexico has to offer at the 2012 Taste of New Mexico this weekend on Civic Plaza in Downtown Albuquerque.

This two day event includes 22 restaurants, wineries and breweries that highlight our local cuisine.  Free entertainment includes performances by Westwind, Fat City and The Noms, as well as plenty of hands-on activities for families and children.

“The 2012 Taste of New Mexico is a great chance to connect the public with the fantastic food and drink offered by New Mexico’s thriving restaurants, breweries and wineries,” Deputy County Manager Vince Murphy says. “We’re proud to promote small businesses and we encourage Balloon Fiesta visitors to attend and enjoy great New Mexico cuisine and local cultural events right here in Bernalillo County.”

Admission, entertainment and children’s activities are completely free. To sample the food and drink, visitors can purchase 12 tickets for $10 or 25 tickets for $20.

Bernalillo County is hosting this year’s event in conjunction with a variety of sponsors. The county has provided the infrastructure for the event, including tables and chairs, staff and marketing in an effort to stimulate the small business economy and provide restaurants another opportunity to connect with customers and the public.

“Bernalillo County is committed to promoting and enhancing small businesses,” Murphy says.
