Concert: Helen Sung-Solo Piano

Pianist-composer, Helen Sung, who performed a sold out concert at Outpost with her trio last spring, returns for a special solo performance and fundraiser for KSFR FM 101.1, Santa Fe. For this concert at Outpost she will be featuring the music of Thelonious Monk- who would have been 99 this year. Sung graduated from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, subsequently winning the Kennedy Center's Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition. Now based in New York, Sung has become one of the outstanding young artists in modern jazz and has worked with such luminaries as the late Clark Terry, Ron Carter, Victor Lewis, Steve Turre, Wayne Shorter, and MacArthur Fellow Regina Carter.
