The New Mexico Department of Tourism is encouraging residents and visitors alike to find their "NM true park" this summer. The contest involves videoing a visit to one or more of New Mexico's 35 state parks or 7 historic sites, and then uploading your clip by August 31 for a chance to win some awesome prizes.

"...This [contest] not only increases awareness of the incredible variety and beauty our parks have to offer, but also boosts the state's economy by keeping valuable tourism dollars right here in New Mexico."

- Governor Susana Martinez

Videos are open to a public voting process, and the top 10 finalists will be determined in each of these three categories:

  • Best video from a State Park
  • Best video from a National Park or Monument
  • Best video from a Historic Site

Enter the contest here: NewMexico.org/NMTruePark

Prizes include: camping and outdoor equipment, GoPro cameras, overnight stays at locations throughout the state, kayak rentals, Cultural Passes from the Department of Cultural Affairs, and annual camping and day-use passes from New Mexico State Parks. The contest is running in conjunction with the National Park Service's "Find Your Park" campaign. See the official rules for more information and head to Visit New Mexico's YouTube channel for more #NewMexicoTrue videos.

"We're getting New Mexicans excited about traveling and keeping their vacations in-state, they're creating lifetime memories by experiencing New Mexico's history, culture and beauty in its purest form, and user-generated content is being provided that can be a useful planning tool for residents and out-of-state guests."

- Tourism Department Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Latham
