Have your cake and eat it too this weekend at the Albuquerque Convention Center!

ICES Show Cake - New Mexico Balloon This Saturday and Sunday, August 2nd & 3rd, the 39th Annual International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES) Convention and Sugar Art Show will be in full swing right in the heart of downtown ABQ. The theme of the event is "Around the World in Eighty Cakes" and is a must for bakers, culinary aficionados, and cake-lovers of all ages.

On Saturday between 9AM and 5PM, the public is invited to come and see the displays in the Sugar Art Gallery. The Gallery features numerous stunning examples of sugar art pieces from all around the world. Also, the Convention Show Cake (pictured) will be showcased in the gallery – a nearly 8-foot-tall masterpiece shaped like a hot air balloon that showcases some of New Mexico's defining characteristics! Additionally, attendees can view the ICES "Live Cake Challenge," the theme of which is "Up, Up and Away" inspired by Albuquerque's vibrant ballooning tradition. Saturday admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children (4-12) and kids under 4 are free.

Sunday from 10AM-5PM, the Sugar Art Gallery will be open to the public yet again. On Sunday, admission for adults is $10 and $5 for children. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Joy Junction, a local charity that works to help Albuquerque's homeless.

Inspired attendees who want to try and create their very own cake or sugar masterpieces at home can also choose to purchase a One-Day Shoppers Pass on either Saturday or Sunday. This pass will provide access to the Vendor Hall where guests can purchase the newest tools of the trade, as well as ask one-on-one questions of the vendors. The price of the Shoppers Pass also includes admission into the Sugar Art Gallery.
